The different possible heirs to the throne: king After Charles

If Charles dies while his son, Prince William, is still alive, then William will become king. If Charles and William died at the same time, then William’s eldest son, George, will become king.

If king After Charles dies while his grandson Prince George is still alive, then George will become king. However, if both Charles and William die before George turns 18, then a regent will be appointed to rule on George’s behalf until he comes of age.

Who Will Be king After Charles?

If Charles and all of his immediate heirs die before George turns 18, then the throne will go to Prince Harry, Charles’s younger son. Beyond Harry, the line of succession goes to Charles’s nephews and nieces: first Louis (William and Kate’s second son), then Charlotte (their daughter), and finally Archie (Harry and Meghan’s son).

The Pros And Cons Of Each Heir

There are pros and cons to each of the potential heirs to the throne. Let’s take a look at some of them:

Prince Charles – Pro: He is the heir apparent and has been next in line for the throne for his entire life. Con: He is 64 years old and would be one of the oldest monarchs in British history if he ascended to the throne tomorrow.

Prince William – Pro: At 34, he is much younger than his father and would likely reign for many years. Con: Some feel he is too young and inexperienced to be king.

Prince Harry – Pro: He is popular with the public and has a “common touch” that his father and brother lack. Con: He is seen as a party-loving playboy by some and it is unclear if he would take the role seriously.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – Pro: She is very popular with the public and seen as a down-to-earth, relatable royal. Con: She is not technically in line for the throne (she would need to be queen consort instead) and some believe she is too closely associated with her husband, Prince William.

Princess Charlotte – Pro: At just four years old, she is currently the youngest heir in British history. Con: She is very young and it could be many years before she ascends to the throne.

Who Is Most Likely To Become King Or Queen After Charles?

The most likely heir to the throne after Charles is his son, Prince William. William is currently second in line to the throne, behind his father. If Charles were to die before William becomes king, then William would become king.

The current heir to the throne is Charles’s eldest son, Prince William. However, it is unclear if he will automatically become king when Charles dies. If William does not become king, the next in line would be his daughter, Charlotte.

Who Will Be Best king After Charles?

With the eventual ascension of Charles to the throne, there is much speculation as to who will become King after him. While we may not know for certain until the time comes, all signs point to Prince William being crowned king when his father’s reign ends. Regardless of who takes over though, one thing is for sure – Britain has a long and proud history of royal succession that will continue on with whichever lucky prince or princess takes on the mantle next.
