“She said, ‘I’m not doing so well; can you please talk to my dad?'” Crosby recalled. “[Drugstore Cowboy] was one of those movies where they were like, ‘Do whatever you gotta do.’ And I did.”

Despite their strained relationship in later years due to Brymore’s drug addiction and rehab stints, the two remain friends, today.

Crosby’s Addiction To Drugs

As a child, Crosby was often seen around town with his dad, who was a heroin addict. Crosby himself became addicted to drugs at a young age and experimented with them extensively. He credits Drew Barrymore’s father with helping him overcome his addiction. “I learned from [Drew Barrymore’s] father how to deal with addiction,” Crosby said. “He would never let me relapse.”

Crosby credits his early recovery crusade to the fact that he had strong support from those closest to him. He also credited the sober living community in Los Angeles for helping him get clean and stay that way.
